Online interested parties meeting for proposed recycling drop-off center

The City of Columbia Utilities Services department is requesting public feedback regarding a proposed recycling drop-off center at the Parks Management Center, 1501 Business Loop 70 West. As part of the City’s public involvement process for capital projects and because of the coronavirus outbreak, City of Columbia Utilities is holding an online Interested Parties (IP) meeting from Dec. 14, 2020, to Jan. 1, 2021, at https://www.como.gov/utilities/solidwaste/recycling-drop-off-centers/proposed-recycling-dropoff/.

The proposed recycling drop-off center will include up to five receptacles for fiber and plastics/tin/steel in an enclosed area similar to the drop-off sites on State Farm Parkway and on the South Providence outer road j ust north of Nifong Boulevard. 

Investment for this project is estimated at $30,000, funded through Solid Waste Enterprise Revenues. The scope of work for this project includes the installation of a perimeter fence, signage and the installation of the recycling receptacles.

The online comment period will run from Dec. 14 to Jan. 1. During this time, citizens my review preliminary plans, contact City of Columbia Utilities staff with questions and comments and complete the IP comment form.
