Van Halen co-founder and rock guitar legend, Eddie Van Halen, died at the age of 65 on October 6th from a long battle with throat cancer, which eventually spread to his brain and other organs.
According to TMZ, Eddie’s final resting place will be off the coast of Malibu, California. On Eddie’s death certificate it shows he was cremated, and his ashes were sent to his son Wolfgang Van Halen. Wolfgang, who played bass guitar with Van Halen, will honor his dad’s wishes and scatter his ashes in the Pacific Ocean in Malibu.
“He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift,” Wolfgang wrote of his father on Instagram in October. “My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss,” he continued, adding, “I love you so much, Pop.” Eddie died surrounded by those he loved.
